Mesoamérica Foundation

Defending the Biodiversity and First Peoples of our Region

Since 1982, Mesoamérica Foundation has been at the forefront of defending the biodiversity of our region of the world, and the First Peoples who live here.

We have worked with the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR) and with local Maya communities.  We have helped define the Sanctuary Movement, and helped merchandisers like Pueblo-to-People find markets for the colorful textiles and weavings of the Highland and Lowland Mayas.

Our work has been covered in the New York Times in New York, El Universal in Mexico City, and El País in Spain.

In 2009 we will launch new programs to help save the Spider Monkey in and around the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve; assist the teachers of Oaxaca improve their salaries and working conditions; and continue our programs to protect the flora and fauna of our region of the world, and all the people who live here.

We invite you to join us on this life-affirming journey of personal growth, spiritual fulfillment, protecting the biodiversity of our world, and helping those who are less privileged than we are.

We look forward to welcoming you as a Green Member of Mesoamérica Foundation.
